What Does It Take to Fit 33's and a 1" spacer with no rubbing on a 2022+ Nissan Frontier?
Просмотров 2,2 тыс.12 часов назад
A question I see a ton on Facebook groups and forums is "what needs to be modified to run 33's on the new 3rd gen Nissan Frontier. In this video, I'm going to show you what I had to modify to fit 285/70R17's on my 2023 Frontier with a 1" wheel spacer. I've heard from other folks with 33's and no wheel spacer (and stock wheels) that you can fit this tire size with just removing the front mud fla...

    I'm a fairly new cigar smoker. I'm considering an electric humidor. I've looked at Needone and King Chii so far . This Newair looks nicer to me. It's probably too big. The other two brands offer a 150 count humidor. But my main concern is hearing some people complain about condensation build up inside these units. I def don't wanna deal with that. Have you had any issues?

    I recently traded into a 23' SV 4x4 with tech and convenience packages, so far I love this truck. I had a 13' Nissan frontier SV 4x4 lwb, it was a great truck. I've owned 3 full sized trucks in between, a 15' Sierra, a 16' Ram (complete nightmare), and a 20' Tundra. So far this 3rd gen Nissan is probably one of my favorite trucks. Definitely a little bit of an adjustment coming back from full sized trucks, but most of these complaints are just nit-picking. I like that Nissan stuck with an old school N/A engine, it has plenty of power and the 9 speed has been very smooth so far. From highway driving, to mountain roads, to the city it's been a pleasure to drive. The cruise control is definitely a bit of a concern which I'll talk to the dealer about, not a fan of how it just romps it to speed up 5 mph. Otherwise it's a great truck.

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding 3 дня назад

      Yep, cruise control before the TSB flash sucks. But glad to hear the feedback with all your experience with other trucks. I'm loving mine so far after a few other Nissan trucks. Great upgrades, but they kept it simple and Nissan through and through.

  • @YTBEN1045
    @YTBEN1045 3 дня назад

    You didn't talk about transmission reliability coz we all know Nissan has a weak transmission historically. Does this newer Frontier have a better transmission?

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding 3 дня назад

      I mean, maybe compared to Toyota, but I have an 08 Frontier with 218K in my driveway with the original transmission that still works fine. This new 9 speed has technically been around since 2020 in the 2nd gen trucks, so it's a 4, almost 5 year old transmission. Honestly, I've heard some people say they've had issues with it and even heard of some transmission replacements, but those are in FB groups so maybe it's just a few rare issues. They seem to have been covered under warranty, so no cost out of pocket for those folks. Then I've also seen people with 2022's with 50 or even 60K on them with no issues. I have 17K on mine and no issues and I figure I've got a lot of warranty left on it still. So, aside from the downshifting in cruise control that I mentioned, that's annoying (but fixed with the TSB flash) it's been pretty solid. This 9 speed is in the Frontier and new Pathfinder so there should be plenty of parts/replacements out there as the years go on, but as far as I know, they've been pretty solid.

    • @YTBEN1045
      @YTBEN1045 3 дня назад

      @AllThingsOverlanding thanks for the input. I have an older Tacoma that's been solid and I love it, but the mileage is getting up there and when it's time to move on I don't want to have anything to do with a Turbo charged engine. That's why I'm looking at other options and the Frontier is one I've been considering.

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding 3 дня назад

      @@YTBEN1045 makes total sense. I obviously would say that Toyotas historically have been more reliable than Nissans, but I also think a lot of people sleep on Nissans and they are much more reliable than a lot of other vehicles and while not quite as reliable as a Toyota, you can still get a couple hundred thousand miles out of them with very little cost or maintenance.

    Fletch, I’m with you-summer is a total no-go here in Saudi Arabia! With temperatures between 115°F and 125°F, all the snakes, scorpions, and spiders come out to play - no tics or mosquitos which are less scary considering. It's extremely dry in Riyadh, so it's better than the UAE, where it has similar temps but severe humidity. No thanks! Fall is just an extension of summer here, so winter and spring are the times to hit the trails! We rolled our car in the dunes a couple of weeks ago, so this summer will be spent rebuilding our rig (it's in the shop as we speak) and getting it ready for October/November, when the overlanding/Camping season begins! We may go hit the mountains later this month in the south where the temperatures are only in the 80's during the day and 60's in the evening which is perfect, although we will have to fend off the baboon population!

They are a bit backed up and their lead times are long but their product is phenomenal and it’s the nicest most flexible rack I’ve ever had.

      Where are you located? If you want to test it, you could find an off road park near you. Or, if you have any state forests or national forests around you, you could check those out too!

    You're right, location matters. In the Pacific Northwest, spring can be wet, but I prefer it if going the right places. Summer is usually too hot for me and dog child. Fall is good. But summer and fall can be bad for fire danger and smoke. Ticks aren't really bad if you aren't in bushes, but I've gotten one or two on coast trails in spring. Winter is too cold or rainy usually, but if one watches for a short dry spell, again, coastal areas can be best. Some places, snow is too deep until July. Unfortunately, summer I don't want to be gone from home much because people in the woods start fires and thievery is worse. I dont have neighbors for nearly a mile to watch things. Summer is bad for mosquitoes if near lakes--I use Thermacell. Dog has pills to kill ticks, not sure why there's nothing like that for humans. Also, I avoid rattlesnake country if possible.

    I grew up in Michigan and I spent as much time as I could outside and in the woods and never even seen a tick. Fast forward 30 years and I bought some acreage on the Cumberland plateau near Chattanooga in Tennessee. The 1st real day I spent exploring I came home with 5 ticks on me! It was a little startling but I didn’t have any issues once removed. 😅

      Yeah, they're the worst. Here in IN, I've had times where I checked my kids after an overnighter and found 8-10. It's kind of scary. So, add in sweating and bugs and I'm fine to just wait until fall/winter, :D.

    This is a good video (as always) that covers what I have been thinking about lately. After my first-year overlanding, I prefer fall and winter (then spring) as well but for different/ additional reasons. I live in Las Vegas and finding altitude in summer is all I think about. But when you get there, it is more crowded than other seasons with campers that are not seasoned (don't respect quiet time, leave trash behind, kids out of school flying drones over you). In summer if you find a cool night in the desert, you still have those darn chiggers. One got my ear! I want to do my projects in summer. Too hot here. I need to install a headliner and insulation in my new camper but I can't be out there when it is 110f...so I will wait...and look for altitude without people. Death Valley and Gold Butte camping in the middle of winter has the best.

    Agreed, I’m in South Alabama and from the end of May to the middle of October it’s Hells front porch here! Some people love it that hot and humid, as for me I’m convinced man’s greatest invention was not the wheel it was central air conditioning!

      Not a terrible idea. I just power wash it out good when I get home from a trip and don’t worry about it much.

    Much change in fuel economy after installing 33s?

    • @AllThingsOverlanding
      @AllThingsOverlanding 3 дня назад

      Definitely the biggest drop of all the mods. Probably lost about 2-3 MPG with the 33's. I also have about 1000 pounds of weight worth of gear in the back, but I had that when I went to WY last year and with stock tires, I still averaged 19-20 MPG. Now I'm getting about 16 or 17.
